Our Location

We are conveniently located in the beautiful seaside village of Haumoana, right on the Kidnappers Coast Cycle Trail. Our depot connects to the off-road limestone pathway network. We are surrounded by a hub of activities and attractions, making it super easy to be right in the action of it.  We are a 20-minutes drive from Napier and 15-minutes from Havelock North and Hastings. We have a list of recommended transport operators if you need assistance.

Te Awanga, Haumoana, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand

Recommended Routes

We’ve cycled far, wide, up, and down, and have narrowed these experiences down to three self-guided great routes.

Coastal Dash - 6 to 10 kilometres (your call)
Straight into it. Out our door, cycle up the coastal pathway towards Cape Kidnappers.  Along the way calling into the various wineries, cellar doors, art galleries, gift shops and cafés. Very easy cycling, and a very easy way to use an afternoon.

The Coast & River Loop - 15 kilometres
This is our favourite. Connect onto the Tukituki River elevated limestone pathway. First check out the lagoon with its surfers and fishermen, then head up past the vineyards, orchards, farms with the almighty Te Mata Peak backdrop and into the back of Te Awanga for some serious lunching. An easy return along Cape Kidnappers’ coastal pathway.

Upstream Explorer - 25 kilometres
For the more energetic types, this is an awesome way to see our surroundings. Check out the Tukituki lagoon with its surfers and fishermen, then up the Tukituki River, past the vineyards, orchards, farms following the river up to Havelock North.  Here you will be on the fringe of the village, where there are great wineries, cellar doors and local food producers.  Afterwards either cruise back to Haumoana and Te Awanga or settle in and get your bikes collected.

OR…

Fleetwood Mac Route (go your own way)
If you want to go your own way, no problem we’ll give you a map and a pat on the back.

Christmas Parties, Corporate Day Out, Birthday Celebrations, Reunions, Weekend Getaways, Wedding & Hens Parties - you name it - we love hosting groups!

We've organised countless days out for team building, family celebrations, reunions, brides to be and wedding parties. When you contact us, we will send you our Helpful Hints which gives an overview of the self-guided routes, cellar doors, restaurants, galleries, shops as well as transport options. We will send through our Health & Safety Regulations and Terms & Conditions. Give Murray a call on (06) 875 0302 to have chat if you have any questions.

The Local Pitstops

Hosted Wine Tours

We are incredibly fortunate to have teamed up with Simon Nash, Master of Wines to create hosted wine (& food!) cycle tours. Either Simon himself, or one of our local wine experts will take you and your friends on a personalised tour to a selection of wineries of your choice by bike. Our guides will tailor the tour to your requirements and wine knowledge. We love to take out absolute wine amateurs through to wine enthusiasts. You can select from 2-4 wineries for exclusive tastings with food matched. We highly recommend booking this experience during the week to get access to the wine-makers as well! Prices start from $145pp depending on group size and number of stops.

Email or call us to find out more! We need a minimum of 2 weeks notice to coordinate these specialised tours.

Hawke’s Bay wineries and vineyards

“I used Coastal Wine Cycles’s Guided Wine Cycle Tour for my gastronomic Hawke’s Bay tour and it was fantastic, especially having their expert host wine guide Simon Nash MW with us. The clients loved it and found it really helpful having an expert on hand, not only for his knowledge but also his ability to prevent us from cycling down the wrong path and ending up in the drink!”
